Never mind that Santorum … scowls as if he’s running for Militant Pope, not president; the point is that he’s steadfast, a family-values fence post with no hint of nookie on the side, and a road warrior who has put in the mileage in Iowa, unlike some of his opponents, who do their campaigning from the set of Fox News. However, he’s absolutely no fun whatsoever, and Republicans have developed such an appetite for absurdism that they may not be happy with anything less than the windswept return of Donald Trump.
